PriceGhost ("we," "our," or "us") operates the PriceGhost Chrome extension, web dashboard, and backend API (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.

2. Data We Collect

2.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and authentication credentials. If you sign in via Google or Facebook OAuth, we receive your profile name and email from those services.

2.2 Marketplace Browsing Data

When the PriceGhost extension is active, we process the product listings you view on Facebook Marketplace. This includes listing titles, images, and prices. This data is sent to our servers solely to identify products and retrieve comparison prices. We do not monitor or collect data from any other websites you visit.

2.3 Payment Information

Payments are processed through Stripe. We never store your credit card number, CVC, or full card details on our servers. We retain transaction records including amount, credit tier purchased, and payment status.

2.4 Usage Data

We track credit usage (number of product lookups) and basic service metrics to maintain and improve the Service.

3. How We Use Your Data

• To provide the core Service: identifying products and comparing prices
• To manage your account and credit balance
• To process payments via Stripe
• To send transactional emails (purchase confirmations, account notices)
• To improve the Service and fix bugs

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services that may process your data:

• Stripe — payment processing. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.
• OpenRouter AI — AI-powered product identification. Listing data (titles, images) is sent to AI models via OpenRouter to identify products. See OpenRouter's Privacy Policy.
• Google OAuth / Facebook OAuth — authentication. We receive only your name and email; we do not access your contacts, posts, or other social data.

5. Data Retention

Account data and payment history are retained as long as your account is active. Product lookup results are cached for up to 7 days to improve performance, then automatically deleted. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and data
• Export your data in a portable format
• Withdraw consent for data processing (by uninstalling the extension and deleting your account)

7. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (TLS), secure password hashing, JWT-based authentication, and Stripe webhook signature verification. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
